Construction started end of September at the west end of 72^nd Street near Seubert Avenue, with the contractor removing pavement and clearing trees along 72^nd Street.

Boring crews plan to start working to install the casing pipe for the watermain to install under 476^th early October. Construction is expected to be completed in late November, with some final seeding done in the spring of 2026.

Commuter Route Information

72^nd Street North is closed to through traffic, but local access for residents and property owners along 72^nd Street North will be maintained during construction. The detour route is to 258^th Street and I-90 via 476^th Avenue and SD Highway 115 (Cliff Avenue).

Project Summary

This construction project will consist of the demolition, realignment, and reconstruction of 72^nd Street North from North Seubert Avenue to 476^th Avenue. Project work includes installing sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm drainage. 72^nd Street North will be constructed as a rural gravel roadway section in anticipation for pavement to be installed in a future project. Portions of the project that were previously paved will be re-paved with asphalt after the completion of the project.
