Project Update: 08/31/2026

Phase 4 utility installation is complete; grading is underway. Phase 4 concrete paving begins Monday, August 31^st.

Phase 5 is expected to begin September 14^th and is the final phase for this project.

Phase 5 closes 20^th Street between 7^th Avenue and 8^th Avenue.

Access During Phase 5

• Access to Avera McGreevy will need to come from 7^th Avenue.
• Access for SFSH and Avera Plaza 2 and Plaza 4 will need to come from Cliff Avenue.
• Deliveries to the Avera loading docks will need to come from Cliff Avenue.

Completion of the project is expected mid-November.

Emergency Services Access:
Emergency responders are advised to access the Avera Emergency Room from 7^th Avenue for the duration of this phase of construction. Motorists are strongly encouraged to utilize 17^th Street or 26^th Street to access 7^th Avenue.

Pedestrian Access:
Pedestrian routes will be signed, and Audible Information Devices (AIDs) will be provided to assist those navigating the detour.

Commuter Route Information

• Currently, 20^th Street is closed from 8^th Avenue to 9^th Avenue.
• Beginning September 14^th, traffic will be closed on 20^th Street from 7^th Avenue to 8^th Avenue
• 2 way traffic on 20^th Street is OPEN for parking ramp access, Center for Family Medicine, SFSH, and Avera Plaza 4 – access from Cliff Avenue
• Access to Avera Loading Dock will come from Cliff Avenue for the final phase of the project
• Access to Avera McGreevy will come from Cliff Avenue for the final phase of the project
