Construction is underway. Phase 1 has been completed. Phase 2 removals have begun.
The outside northbound lane on Cliff Avenue will be closed for one week while lighting connections are completed. A press release will be sent out prior to the lane closure.
Once Phase 2 work is complete, Phase 3 work will begin and includes the closure of 20th Street at 9th Avenue, which includes the cul-de-sac for Avera valet and the entrance for SFSH valet. Access for SFSH and Avera Plaza 4 will need to come from 7th Avenue during Phase 3 of the project. A news release will be sent out prior to closure. Phase 3 is currently scheduled to begin August 12.
Work on the remainder of the project is expected to be completed in early November.
Emergency Services Access: Emergency responders are advised to access the Avera Emergency Room from 7th Avenue for the duration of this phase of construction. Motorists are strongly encouraged to utilize 17th Street or 26th Street to access 7th Avenue.
Pedestrian Access: Pedestrian routes will be signed, and Audible Information Devices (AIDs) will be provided to assist those navigating the detour.

This project consists of the complete reconstruction of 20th Street from 7th Avenue to Cliff Avenue. Work will include the replacement of watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage piping, and the replacement of the existing asphalt roadway with 8" concrete pavement. It also includes sidewalk replacement, ADA accessible curb ramp replacement, new street lights, new pavement markings, and signage.
