Project Update: 11/02/2026

Paving is complete, but the gravel shoulder still needs to be installed, along with some permanent erosion control in the ditches. The road should be open to traffic the second or third week in November, weather dependent.

Commuter Route Information

  • 72nd Street North is currently closed to through traffic. The detour route is to 258th Street and I-90 via 476th Avenue and SD Highway 115 (475th Avenue).

Project Summary

This construction project will consist of the demolition, realignment, and reconstruction of 72nd Street North from North Seubert Avenue to 476th Avenue. Project work includes installing sanitary sewer and storm drainage, and removing the existing gravel road. 72nd Street North will be reconstructed as a two-lane rural asphalt roadway section from where the asphalt ends near Seubert Avenue east to 476th Avenue.
