Planning

The City Planning Division works with the City Council, various advisory boards, stakeholder groups, and Sioux Falls residents to ensure that the community plans and prepares for the future. The Department's divisions empower our community through various services, tools, and information for businesses and residents in Sioux Falls to learn about code, permitting and design requirements for developers. 

The Planning Department provides for a wide range of support for the Sioux Falls Community. By using the Shape Sioux Falls 2040 Comprehensive Plan as guidance, the Planning Department strives to accomplish coordination and direction in the development of Sioux Falls.
