September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and Siouxland Libraries is celebrating with the 2025 national theme: One Card, Endless Possibilities. This year’s campaign highlights the many resources and services available to everyone with a library card—and invites new community members to sign up for one.

Currently, 83,301 Siouxland residents hold library cards. In coordination with this year’s celebration, Siouxland Libraries is launching a three-year effort with the goal of doubling the number of cardholders to 160,000.

“Our goal is to show just how much a library card can open the door to opportunities for learning, connection, and growth at every stage of life,” said Alysia Boysen, Director of Siouxland Libraries.

To sign up for a library card in person, simply bring a photo ID and a recent piece of mail, if your current address isn’t listed on your ID, to any library branch. You can also register quickly and conveniently through the Siouxland Libraries website.

September is also the perfect time to renew your library card if it has expired. Library cards expire every three years.

A Siouxland Libraries card provides access to far more than books. Cardholders can explore:

  • Digital collections, including downloadable audiobooks and eBooks through Libby
  • Career resources such as JobNow and LinkedIn Learning
  • Mango Languages for language learning
  • ParentTV on-demand parenting videos and courses
  • Digital driving tests, REACH literacy classes, State Park passes, learning tablets, discovery and reading kits, and even board games

“Our staff design engaging programs and provide personalized guidance to help you find exactly what you need,” said Boysen. “We’re inviting everyone to discover the endless possibilities that start with a library card.”
