Published on December 22, 2025
The City of Sioux Falls will open two Christmas tree drop sites Friday, Dec. 26, to Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026. The free service is available to residents of Sioux Falls and Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha and Turner counties.
Drop sites are located at:
- West of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 1015 E. Chambers St., just off N. Cliff Avenue.
- North Lyon Boulevard, located south of the Fairgrounds near W.12th Street. Access is available from W. 12th Street to north Lyon Boulevard or from W. Madison Street to N. Lyon Boulevard.
Hours for both sites are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Both sites will be closed Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day. The sites are not available to businesses, farms, nonprofits, churches, schools or government entities.
Artificial, flocked or fake trees, plastic bags, stumps, rubble and household garbage are not accepted at the drop sites. All lights, ornaments, decorations and stands must be removed before drop-off. Collected trees will be ground with other branches and repurposed as mulch.
