Minnesota Avenue Construction
Beginning on Monday, March 9, 2026, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction along Minnesota Avenue from Second Street to Eighth Street to allow crews to reconstruct the street. Work will begin on the east side of Minnesota Avenue and will include the replacement of sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage system, concrete pavement with center median, traffic signals, street lighting, and streetscaping.
Left turn movements will be restricted due to the single-lane traffic through the construction zone. Detours for adjacent businesses will be set up. Pedestrian detours will be established to allow crossings at signalized intersections.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduced speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
North Marion Road Construction Open House
The City of Sioux Falls will host a Public Open House from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the South Dakota Department of Transportation, 5316 West 60th Street North. The purpose of the public open house is to share information about the upcoming North Marion Road overpass construction project, which is scheduled to begin in early April. Utility, embankment, bridge substructure, and retaining walls will be completed this year. Bridge superstructure, final grading, concrete surfacing, and landscaping will be in 2027. The public is welcome to attend at any time during the public open house; this will be an informal event with no presentation. Representatives from Sayre Associates, HDR, and the City Engineer’s Office will be available to answer questions from landowners and members of the public regarding the project.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early April, weather permitting. During construction, North Marion Road will be closed between West Memory Lane and West 84th Street North. Access to local properties will be via temporary roads.
