Blizzard Update - Sunday, March 15, 2026

Published on March 15, 2026

The Public Works Street Division surveyed the streets in Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon and determined a snow alert will not be issued. However, they will use plows to clear drifting snow from residential streets. Streets will also be treated with salt to reduce icing.

Because the City of Sioux Falls is not issuing a snow alert, vehicles parked on the street will not be ticketed or towed. The City encourages residents to move vehicles parked on public streets, if possible, during the next 24 hours. Clearing the streets of vehicles will help the plows better clear the drifting snow.

Plows will also continue clearing emergency snow routes, secondary routes, and areas around schools. Above-freezing temperatures will return by midweek and a reduction in snow plowing will keep storm drainage inlets open for melting.
