Annual Licensed Waste Hauler Recycling Rates
Recycling rates are calculated by dividing the total amount of recyclables by the total amount of solid waste hauled within the five-county region (Lake, Lincoln, McCook, Minnehaha & Turner Counties) served by the Sioux Falls Regional Sanitary Landfill.
By City ordinance, all licensed commercial waste haulers are annually required to achieve the standard of at least 80 percent of the recycling goal. In 2024, the recycling goal was 19.7% and the recycling standard was 15.8%. Haulers who do not meet the standard receive a surcharge.
